Tobias Forsythe, of Gahanna, Ohio, died following a traffic collision on Interstate 71 South in Madison County during the early morning hours of Sunday. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 1:43 a.m. near mile marker 82 when a southbound 2020 Freightliner Cascadia struck the gray 2025 Honda Accord driven by Forsythe. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
Toby was widely admired for his achievements on the soccer field. A graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School, he attended and played goalkeeper for AU from 2023 to 2025 before transferring to Shawnee State University, where he earned the starting goalkeeper position. Former teammates described him as a talented athlete, a dedicated competitor, and an even better friend whose positive attitude made a lasting impact on those around him.
